UMANG – One App, Many Government Services:

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India program to develop a common, unified platform mobile app to facilitate a single point of access to all government services.

UMANG intends to provide convenient accessibility of major services offered by Central and State Government departments, Local bodies and other utility services from private organizations. It provides a unified approach where you can install one application to avail multiple government services on multiple channels.

UMANG is conceptualised to bring governance on the fingertips of individuals through 'mobile first' strategy.  This multi-lingual app is developed and operated by National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of MeitY. It was  launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in 23^rd November  2017.

A few of the key advantages of using the UMANG App are:

1.   Single-point of access for about 1200+ government services

2.   It reduces clutter and eliminates the need to install individual departmental apps

3.  24/7 online access allows one to use services, view documents etc.

4.  Significant time savings, by avoiding visits to government departments and waiting in queues

5.  Provides a secure, uniform, and user friendly experience

UMANG can be accessed through mobile application, web, IVR & SMS which can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops. UMANG App can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Window App Store.

Services on UMANG

As on January 2023, there are 4.95+ Crores Users registered on UMANG platform. 314+ Government Departments are being integrated with UMANG across all the states and providing 1,683+ government services through UMANG.

In Assam, so far, 33 services are on boarded onto UMANG:
